side effects of quitting smoking?i know it sounds silly, as most people would think that any effects of quitting smoking would be positive ones, but here's what's going on with me after almost three weeks without smoking.
1. i can't stop coughing and my voice is hoarse.
2. my ears tickle inside so bad that it makes me wanna scream.
3. i can't sleep. i've been averaging about four hours a night most nights.
4. i'm constantly exhausted and have no energy.
is this normal? it's been happening since day two. i can't stand it! these issues are worse than the actual withdrawal symptoms. i just feel sick and awful.

You're doing fine , 14 months since I stopped - still got a mild cough.
The coughing is your lungs cleaning - the gunk hits your vocal cords on the way out.

Can't sleep - couple more weeks and you will sleep like a log
Exhaustion - yah - you're body is using all reserves to heal (and you not sleeping) this will pass and energy will be better than before.

it sounds like you are having withdrawl symptoms, I had them for about six months and it was hard!
Once your body is used to addiction of any sort, it freaks out when you dont have it. Stick to the good work you've been doing and in time the symptoms will pass. This is the hard part, and go ahead and scream! It will make you feel better...

Honey its the nicotine in cigarettes that makes you addicted. When you give up suddenly you begin to experience all these nasty withdrawal symptoms/side effects. I strongly suggest nicotene tablets or patches. You could of slowly given up instead like giving up only one cigarette each day too.
