Suggestions Req.: How to make a person Quit Smoking?ok i've a situation here.
my employer is an active smoker. he smokes upto 15 cigs in 1 day.
I challenged my employer that i will reduce or make him quit smoking within 10 days. He accepted the challenge.
From my side i've done something i.e., snatching away the butt from his mouth & crushing it on the ground.
The problem here is that this doesn't seem to help. His whole family knows that he is smoking. He is married & has 2 very small kids of 3 1/2 & 1 yr old.
He knows the pros & cons of smoking. yet he is unable to quit smoking.
Trust me I can go upto any level to make him quit smoking no matter what, cause i'm a real Dare-Devil kind of a person.
I don't care about the consequences cause i know what is in store for me & i'm always ready for the future.
I always expect the unexpected.
Can anyone help?

NO ONE can "make" another person quit smoking. You cannot snatch the cigs from his mouth 24/7. Smoking is an addiction which must be defeated by the person who is addicted.
I'm sorry to say, but you are fighting a losing battle. If he does quit smoking, it will be because of his own will power.

From what you're describing, it looks like you're trying to get your employer to quit smoking by physically stopping him, and thats not possible. Something that you could do however is take away his packs of cigarettes, he will only spend so much money to replace the cigarettes that you take away from him. Something else that you could try is getting everyone in the work place to yell out something annoying when he begins to smoke like an annoying little chant. Little things like that could go a long way. But in order to quit smoking and eliminate that urge it has to be something your employer wants to do for himself and his family and its going to take more than just ten days. Good Luck!

The determination to quit has to come from him. You say he knows the dangers of smoking, but continues anyway. The only thing I can think of is to get him material on the dangers of "second hand" smoke, research shows more and more problems for those around smokers.
Maybe if he realizes that he is harming his children and his wife it will be the turning point.
Smoking is not a bad habit, it is a lifestyle and a total addiction.

NO ONE can make anyone quit smoking - or quit drinking, overeating, drugs etc - the person alone can only make that decision
