Could Smoking Cause Heart Problems? One of my friends is trying to quit smoking and they have recently developed a heart condition where their heart beats rapidly for an extended period of time. I was wondering if this condition could possibly be linked to the smoking or whether it is unrelated.

Yes it could be. The carbon monoxide and smoke causes your heart to have to work harder, and which means also that there is less oxygen running through their blood stream. By doing that it can cause your heart to beat rapidly, and also can cause coronary artery disease.
