Smoking Bans? There is a new trend starting in America called "Tobacco-Free Initiatives" or better known as smoking bans. These plans and policies restrict where people can/cannot smoke.
Some cities have gone as far to ban smoking in all public venues. Employers are instituting 30 ft. bans in healthcare settings (indoor/outdoor) for both employees and customers, but they are offering free smoking cessation programs.
Altough I am not a smoker and the smell makes my stomach turn, I have to ask...are they going to far? Have they (decision makers) violated our rights?

I smoke, But there is also the question of Are we violating the rights of non-smokers by smoking where ever and when ever we want....? So I just go along with it..It is now in the counties and cities where I live, I just smoke where I can....They just also raised the cigarette tax and now it is up to .99 cents per pack...so why don't they raise a tax on something that everyone uses like milk or bread!

I don't mind the smoking bans, but yes!! Way too far.. Anytime they take away any sort of freedom.. They're going too far!!

Commonsense would say that business owners would follow the money and would be left alone to make decisions that would increase or please their clients.
It is the rights of the private business owners that is really being violated.

i am a smoker and i agree with the bans.....i do know the effects of second hand smoke and wish to quit one day myself and with all the bans they are making it easier..i do not want to impose my choice on someone else's right not to smoke..i dont even smoke in my own house or my car when my kids are in there with me.....it is our right to smoke but is it fair to do something so dangerous to yourself that one day the federal gov't will have to foot the bill to treat..just my thoughts

the smoking bans in restaurants and all hasnt bothered me...im glad for the non smokers. BUT....when you tell me i cant smoke on this property or 30 feet away from this building...thats going to far. I smoke outside so how is that hurting non smokers? (and no i dont stand next to non smokers or blow it in their face when they walk by)
