I smoke and just had a blood test, I was told my blood was too rich (from not enough oxygen) and I was prone for blood clots. The lungs and heart work together and I know my heart works harder because I run out of breath. A smokers heart is not as healthy, for one thing.

I think it depends where the non smoker lives. The pollution from cars, industry has got to have some kind of effect on a non smokers heart and lungs....

Nicotene makes your vessels contract (get smaller), so not as much oxygen can get to your heart muscle. We can tell during a heart cath that a person is a smoker just by the appearance of their vessels. If there is any kind of blockage in the vessel, it is much worse in a small vessel than in a large (normal) one.
