Is it possible to receive unemployment benefits after putting a notice (2 week quitting notice) in at a job?I was told by a friend that a person could file for benefits even after quitting a job with a notice. I thought that was the most crazy thing i've heard because of the fact how can you get unemployment after QUITTING A JOB....you quit...then you put in a notice...even if its not a walk off quit.
I am not interested or attempting to get unemployment i have a job. i just want to know if its true or not! sounds crazy to me!!!

You are right in thinking that idea from your friend is crazy; If you quit a job even with notice you will not get unemployment.
A person who leaves a job without having another job relinquishes all rights to umemployment. The person knew that they had no job to go to so what did they expect to live on? If a person gives notice and goes to another job and then gets laid off then that is another story. There was a news story where there was a job opening for a janitor somewhere down south, the job received more than 700 applicants. There are people who want to work and can't and if a person quits why should they stay home and get paid?

It depends on your reason for quitting in some cases. If you quit with "good cause" like unsafe working conditions, or loss of transportation or medical emergency, etc. You would have to prove it.
