withdrawals from quitting smoking?i've quit off and on for apporx 5 years. the longest stretch was 3 months, and i started again due to stress. i've noticed it seems to get easier each time i quit, atleast the physical withdrawals are more tolerable. however, after 4 days of not smoking i feel incredibly anxious. i have social anxiety to begin with and this anxiety seems intensified at the moment. i turned off my cell phone and don't want to meet up with anyone. this part usually gets better after a few weeks but i was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to overcome anxiety from smoking cessation or maybe its just anxiety in general. the only way i know is to accept it and maintain a regular social life even if i am nervous alot, but i felt like i tried and failed before.
note: the way i stopped last time was by running and it helped for awhile until i had to take a break because of shin splints and general acute pain.

Just give it more time.

After I had tried many kinds of gimmicks and support groups, I went and got hypnotized. I never smoked again, and I had no withdrawal symptoms. Make sure you quit. My younger sister died of lung cancer in April after a lifetime of smoking. I was recently diagnosed with COPD, formerly called emphysema, even though I have not had a single cigarette since 1977. It is due to heavy smoking in my youth and young manhood. A word to the wise!

Symptoms like withdrawal and craving are indication that the real reason for your need to smoke is not handled before you quit smoking.
