Do those who quit smoking actually have any health advantages over those who never smoked?

Do those who quit smoking actually have any health advantages over those who never smoked? This may seem like a very dumb question, and it probably is, but I know people who quit smoking can return to almost 100% as far as lung health goes after years of sobriety. Now for the weird question. Does it actually strengthen the human body in any way. I mean, build a slight immunity to carbon monoxide, IMPROVE circulation since the body is used to trying to adapt to poor circulation....anything like that. I know, probably a dumb question, but have there been studies done?

no, logically if you never breathed in , puffed those 1000 chemicals you'd be healthier not the other-way around

Good question. I watch answers with interest although I doubt it. I know what us quitters do gain though - the confidence which comes from quitting a powerful addiction. It makes other seemingly unsurmounable problems beatable!

No, it doesn't stengthen the body to have engaged in damaging behavior and then having recovered. And NO, the lungs (and brain) don't recover 100%. The old saying of "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" applies to psycho-social blows, not physically harmful behavior..

Are you a smoker that who desire to put the boot in to the habit for good; then you is the one who should never miss to go through this!

Good question, but i dont know. I wish some of these douche bags on here would give an honest answer and not preech there "you should not smoke BS".

Anyways. I would think that in some form or fashion the quitters are stronger than the non quitters, just because we have the will power to stop smoking and they will never know what it takes to overcome such an addictive drug.
