You are more likely to die from caffeine than from marijuana.

Marijuana has never been proven to cause lung cancer or heart disease either. The sick and the elderly use it for pain. Yet marijuana is demonized, while much more dangerous prescription drugs are legal.

EDIT: You are correct and accept your logic that all things that might kill you shouldn't be illegal. However, marijuana contains 4x the tar per cigarette versus tobacco. And tar is one element that causes cancer. It is nearly impossible to divide the two since most people who have smoke marijuana have also smoked tobacco at some point.

The LD of THC is essentially impossible for a human to consume and is even higher than the LD of drinking water. (yep, crazy)

Of course, They have no way to regulate weed. They also have issues with taxing it so therefore if they make it legal they will still have issues with people not paying their taxes or purchasing it illegally. The government controls all and if they cannot they ban it.

look at prohibition. by making alcohol illegal it became a bigger deal that it was before. so if marijuana was legalized... would people still want to use it? or would the sparkle of being illegal go away and then marijuana not be an issue?
