Smoking Cessation?I stopped smoking August 1, 2007 after smoking for almost 25 years. I thought I was doing very well, but I was very irritable. The slightest thing would set me off, and I bought a pack of cigarettes yesterday (Oct. 15, 2007). I feel very weak and hate myself, but I do feel much more relaxed. I have heard of people who are physically/psychologically unable to quit. I know all of the tricks, tips, and suggestions; I have tried Zyban, Nicoderm CQ, Nicorette gum, and most recently, Commit, all to no avail. I also know it takes will power, but I am not my easy going self without the nicotine. Can anyone please help me overcome the almost violent urge to smoke?

keep trying. i admire your determination. just put like, a trivial goal in your head, like i want to be able to sing. to be able to sing i have to quit smoking to have a good voice. and then just pictur/hear yourself singing that tune. i just made up an example but it might help you make up ur own. good luck!

Don't light it up. This is a MAJOR test of your willpower right here, going on NOW. The urge to smoke will pass, however, if you give in, you will be upset and angry with yourself later. If you stay strong, you will feel pride and confidence later. This is a real test of you and believe me, in the end you will feel better for not smoking. Throw that pack away. You have already won, don't let the cig demon get you again. You can do it. Think how great you will feel after beating this temptation. Pick a NICE, REALLY NICE reward for yourself that you'll get once you beat it, something NICE you have wanted for a long time. Nevermind the price or anything. Resist smoking, then reward yourself instead. GO FOR IT! YOU CAN DO IT AND I AM ROOTING FOR YOU.

I work in a cancer clinic. I recommend going to visit. Once you see the disease at it's peak you would want to stop before it's your turn. Try looking up pictures and illustrations of lung cancer. Also try calling the 800 numbers for cessation help like 1800NOBUTTS. The best prescription we give out is Chantix. It has a high success rate and low side-effects.

try researching the product called the Electric Cigarette. I don't know if you will go for it but I figured I would tell you about it and you can make your own decisions.
It is a way to keep the oral fixation and still inhale simulated smoke that is not harmfull. You can also order it with different levels of Nicotine (from none to 36mg).

Although the nicotine was all out of your system by October, the body never forgets the sensation that it derives from it. I know this might sound cooky, and I don't know what you think about it but I suggest getting hypnotized. My father smoked for 20 years and went to get hypnotized because he WANTED to quit. A big thing that plays a part in whether it works or not is whether or not you WANT to quit. So, if you're just quitting for anyone except for yourself then this method probably won't work. But if you truly want to overcome this addiction and are in it for yourself then that's the treatment I suggest. Thanks. Oh and my dad hasn't smoked once for the past 7 years!
