What are the Independant Variables and Dependant Variables in these sentences? Help Please.?


What are the Independant Variables and Dependant Variables in these sentences? Help Please.?I have most of them (i think) but I want to make sure I am doing it properly. Also, if there is a filter variable what is it?

1. Does Rest improve test scores?
2. Seating positions in cars and fatality risk.
3. Interpersonal distance as affected by room size and gender.
4. An evaluation of the American Lung Assoc. Home Video smoking cessation program.
5. Mathematics Achievement of Chinese, Japanese, and American children.

Think in terms of running an experiment.
The variable you purposely change is the independent variable.
The variable you measure is the dependent variable; it's supposedly dependent on the one you changed.

For instance, in the first one, you're going to fiddle with the amount of rest each subject gets, and measure their test scores as a result of that rest (at least, you hope the amount of rest affects the test scores). Rest is independent; test scores are dependent.
