Anyone know the statistics of people dying after quitting smoking?Lately, I have heard that when someone quits smoking, they die in matter of years. Is there a website i can look at for satistics?
Junto America
Everyone who quits smoking dies, along with everyone who still smokes and everyone who has never smoked.
There are people who have smoked all their lives and live to 100. Some people quit smoking only after it is too late, so it skews the statistics.

Well, some people quit in their thrities, etc., and most don't die right away.
I think that if you find these studies, you're going to need to look and see how many young subjects there were.
I mean geez, if people only tend to quit when theyre getting on in years and are now afraid of death, then of course they're all old to start with!
I'm not saying I know that to be true, but I do know that generally, we only take of ourselves when it's too late. We think we're immortal till then.
Us smokers, at least.

I can't help you with any statistics or web sites that could answer your question...BUT... I have to tell you that I used to smoke up to 40 ciggies a day. I went cold turkey and stopped smoking in April 1982...that was 25 years ago last month and I am still going strong at 57!
My husband also stopped smoking in 1984 and he is still going strong as well.

Absolutely not true.
Statistically, the sooner you quit smoking, the *less* likely you are to develop bronchitis, emphysema, heart disease, stroke, cancer, or any other smoking related complications. After 15 years of being smoke free, the risk of smoking related health problems drops to only slightly higher than those who have never smoked.
