Well. Since you quit smoking, you have a much less chance of getting cancer. It may be too late and the damage might be already done but, like I said, a much less chance. If your uncles had it then maybe its the males and you might be ok. Maybe the gene isn't strong enough. Good Luck.

Congratulations on quitting.. smoking is a risk factor not only for lung cancer, oral cancer and laryngeal cancer, but also coronary artery disease. You do not say how long you smoked or how many packs you smoked.
However, quitting is not a guarantee that you will not get cancer. Nonsmokers also get lung cancer. Many nonsmokers also get pancreatic and stomach cancer and smoking (studes on the correlation between smoking and these 2 cancers show an increased risk, but not a strong one as for lung cancer). This does not mean you should go back to smoking--- quitting reduces the risk factor.
For most cancers, smoking is not a known risk factor. Nothing can be done to prevent most cancers, so you can't spend your life worrying about it.
We don't know what causes cancer, so we can only reduce risk factors that are under our control and get screened for the cancers that can be detected early that way (such as getting colonoscopies starting at age 50 for most people), mammograms for women.

You or any one can not prevent getting cancer by any means.
By quitting smoking you sure have reduced chances to get cancer but not totally.
