Effects Starting Paxil?I just started taking Paxil 1 1/2 weeks ago. I started at 10mg and haven't been noticing much change, it seems like I've been more negative, and had even more irrational thinking than before. I was increased to 20mg and it significantly increased these feelings including Inability to focus/concentrate even when I take Lorazepam (which isn't helping so much with these irrational fears right now either). Feeling more hopeless. I'm wondering how long this is going to take? I was put on Paxil because of my smoking cessation withdrawals and having a horrible chemical imbalance with panic attacks daily.
I also recently started experiencing pains/aches throughout my body which the Lorazepam does aid with mostly. Back pain, knee pain, chest pain, and abdominal pain. Going to a Chiropractor Monday.

paxil took 2 weeks before i noticed anything other than the diarrhea it gave me the first 3 days, I really noticed a difference after 3 weeks. I was on Paxil only for about 4 months before i stopped taking it...it got me on the right track but i was unable to feel any emotion..i couldn't be sad or mad if i wanted to or if i needed to ...i'd be lying if i said i didn't miss it sometimes!

I would advise Celexa over Paxil as an antidepressant or mood stabilizer. My mom has been on Paxil for almost her whole life now and several times she has tried to get off it. However, each time she has had to take it again because of the horrible withdrawal symptoms. No that she was addicted to it like it was heroin or anything, it just caused a sensation of being electrocuted and severe anxiety. Just be careful with it if you plan on being on it long term
