> The Congressional Budget Office places the total cost of the stimulus bill, more like spending bill, at $ 1.17 trillion due to interest on loans needed to fund the bill, which is the lowest it could possibly be.
>Only 5% is going towards repairing America's infrastructure, which was Obama's initial idea for the bill.
>Only $ 90 billion of the stimulus bill is considered to be a possible growth stimulus according to the Wall Street Journal.

- Modernizing our electric grid stimulates our economy?
- Energy programs stimulate our economy?
- Tax credits for education really helps too.
- Amtrak hasn't produced a profit in 40 years but lets throw them $ 1 billion.
- Our economy is not built on cheap oil and that shows how little you know about the subject.

Alright.. I really don't see what's so wrong with modernizing our electric grid. Perhaps these freezes and natural disasters wouldn't hurt us so bad if we did so.

Energy programs.. I have no problem with either.

In fact, lots of the things you listed look like things that have been sorely neglected for too long. I mean, tax credits for education and yes, even Amtrak spending doesn't bother me.
I've often thought that our economy is built too much on cheap oil and when it goes up, we are all wholy screwed.

Some of this stuff though, I can say is unnecessary for federal government. Housing should be a local/state issue. Fish barriers? And I've seen these carbon capture programs.. useless.

But a realization that everyone should come to on this is how much the Congress is a bunch of dirty swine that MUST always be bribed for their vote. Reps did it on the TARP bill and Dems are doing it when their party is in power.

As long as we have this congress system in place, we will always be wasteful.

That's the kind of shit that always has and always will go on in the US the way our government currently is. The bad thing about Democracy is that once people realize that they can get money by voting certain people in to office, they will. The founding fathers would laugh at the way our goveronment is currently structured if they saw the way it looked. FDR is not the american hero everyone says him to be as far as the economy goes. FDR increased taxes on everyone by %20 with the addition of medicare, food stamps, Social secuiriy ect. And as far as wasting money, the Republicans did a fantastic job as well. we should have left Iraq after a year when we found out there really wasnt any WMD. The Republicans wasted a couple trillion dollars, on the war. The Republicans were to relaxed on the morgage industry and it killed them in the long run... thanks for the recession goveronement. =)
