He was wondering how long after quitting will nicotine appear in his urine test? If he tells them he's not using tobacco, and it appears in his urine - he will be fined. Thank you!
Nicotine testing is apparently legal. He has to pay $ 15/week out of his paycheck to be allowed to smoke while working for his company (Construction, outside). If he states he does NOT use nicotine, and he is found to be using - they fine him and charge him a few months of the "nicotine fee" that he should have been paying. They are VERY strict on health.

I have worked several YEARS in construction as does my husband. It sounds like the health insurance company his company is enrolled in has them by the short and curlies.
I am sorry I do not know the answer to you original question. But as an experienced verteran of the Construction industry both residential and commercial. (as so many of us are these days) it saddens me to see abuse of employees.
I could understand if it was something that altered his sobriety as that becomes a workers comp issue and endangers his life as well as other workers, but nicotine is no such drug.
Maybe, if he pops positive he could argue he had nicotine gum or the nicotine patch on?
