How to convince my mom she needs to stop smoking?

How to convince my mom she needs to stop smoking? My mom has smoked cigarettes for a very long time, and I cannot convince her to stop. I've tried giving her facts and statistics about smoking problems and diseases and how she is endangering me, and whenever I try to talk to her about it she says, "Don't worry about it." And then if I try to lead on the conversation more, she will yell at me. The only other thing she answered me with is, "It's too hard to quit." But she has never tried to quit before. I am sick of breathing smoke all the time, I'm sick of not being able to have friends over because they get headaches when they are at my house (many have told me), and I am sick of sitting here watching my mother suck on cancer sticks just wasting her life away, and endangering me and everyone else. She refuses to just smoke outside, and air purifiers are not an option. (They are too expensive) We are also not doing so good financially and she ignores the fact that that's where all the money goes. Please help me.
Thanks for all the answers already, and I have given her facts and such but she just pushes me away and will not listen to me at all. I have ended up in tears trying to convince her but she cares about her cigarettes more. All I ask is for her to try and she isn't at all. She didn't stop when she was pregnant with me or my brother, and she almost lost me because I was born prematurely, but she still didn't try.

It's a fact that secondhand smoke kills. Tell her that, find some information and proof on it, and tell her if she loves you enough, she'll at least try to stop so that it doesn't kill you or anybody else. It may not work at first, but keep pestering her, and it hopefully will. Good luck!

She is right when she sais that its too hard to quit, but she does need to respect the health of others and smoke outside or if she dont want to do that then she can have a room in the house where she smokes with the door closed.Maybe you can convince her to buy the patch, I know many people that quit on it and its not too expensive, not like those pills that you get from the doctor.

she will quit... someday... but like my mom it will likely be too late... the damage will have been done.

I lost my mom 7 years ago to lung cancer.... a slow brutal way to see someone die. especially your own mom.

Ask her if she wants to be alive to see her grand kids. Tell her you don't want to have to deal with the heart ache of losing her to cigarettes. You need to really open up to her, don't be afraid to shed any tears over it either, be honest with yourself and her.

You have to realize its a very hard addiction to break and lots of times it takes a wake up call to get someone to stop smoking. My dad smoked for over 35 years and it actually took a visit to the E.R to get him to quit cold turkey. My husband smoked for over 10 years and it wasn't till the birth of our daughter that he too quit cold turkey. Although I know some parents who won't even quit during the pregnancy, it's a very selfish thing to do.

I eat pure Crisco.
You need to arrange a visit to the hospital and have her visit cancer patients. Some times seeing a hard dose of reality is all it takes.
