The more you smoke, the higher your chances of getting cancer.

Dude, if you smoke 1 or 2 a day, you have nothing to worry about, because at that rate, for the nicotine and tar buildup to develop into cancer would take somewhere between 90-150 years, so your good. Although it is a good idea to quit, you have nothing to worry about.

There's no guarantee -- except the guarantee that smoking DOES increase the chances that you'll get cancer -- and heart disease, and emphysema, which in some ways is even worse; it turns your lungs from soft, functioning tissue into something like corrugated cardboard.
Some guys think smoking makes them look cool. Go visit a pulmonary ward and see how cool it looks to be dying of this cr@p.
Both my parents did... and it wasn't pretty. Please think about your own health and your own family, and stop before you're addicted.

If you stop smoking now, it will decrease your risk of getting lung cancer. Also, try to stay away from places where people are smoking, since second hand smoke is said to be even more dangerous than smoking.
Unfortunately, it only takes one unfortunate exposure to cause one to develop lung cancer. Odds are, however, that you won't get it.

Surviving cancer depends on what kind of cancer you have and the stage, which you do not metion.
