I'm going to quit smoking pot any advice, suggestions, or success stories to share?I'm seeing a counselor about anxiety, social phobia, low self confidence and stuff like that and I told her that i felt my pot smoking was one of the biggest impediments to fixing that and she's helping me out but i could always use more advice.
One thing she told me to do is to make a list of reasons I want to quit and read it whenever I feel the urge to smoke. Also she said I should come up with a way to reward myself for not smoking, such as ordering pizza or something like that. Do you have any other advice for me? Also how should I tell my friends when they want to hang out that I'm not smoking? Pot is central to what me and my friends currently do for fun. I've tried to quit before, made it as long as 2 weeks, and being unable to tell my friends no is what has always resulted in my past attempts' failures.

Having friends that smoke makes it really difficult to stay sober. I had a friend come over recently that smoked, and I gave into temptation. You may need to see the services of your local Narcotics Anonymous or NA. Sometimes they have a group just for pot smokers. That would be ideal for you. That way, you aren't trying to do this alone.
It sounds all fine and dandy to some to be a pothead. I know because I was one. But you don't really get much done when you are on pot, and it can stop you from achieving much. One thing that helps is exercise. I haven't exercised much in the past week, and I can feel myself craving pot more and more.
You may just need to not hang out with your friends, or at least make it very clear to them that you cannot be around them when they decide to smoke.
If you do relapse, it's important to realize that it doesn't have to be a permanent. It's not all or nothing.

that is a bummer. I have some friends that had a lot of trouble quitting. It wasn't a big deal to me. I quit anytime I needed to for a job no problem I actually haven't smoked any in like 2 years. I just had supplements. If I felt the need to smoke I had a cigarette and if i wanted a buzz I drank alcohol which was really helpful because I don't know if this happens to you but when I get a little liquor in me if I smoke weed I get the spins pretty bad. So if I was hanging out with people smoking pot I would just drink a little whiskey and then there was no way I was smoking any. Good luck quitting.
im cool
hmm. idk.
ive never had a problem with quitting. i hvnt smoked in like a month and no probs.
the only thing i ever get is the day after smoking i still felt kinda high. and it made me want to smoke again. but yeah. idk

That's great, great news.
I used to smoke myself so I know where you're coming from. What's going to happen is that your friends are going to be smoking and it's going to seem like they're off in that different world. To some extent, you're going to learn to deal with that, just accept the fact that they're kind of out of it and potheady (which is how they'll seem when you're straight). To some extent, you're going to find yourself making new friends and gravitating to them because they'll have all sorts of interests that you stopped caring about when you were smoking but will appeal to you when you're straight.
It's not like you're going to lose your friends, the ones who are your real friends (and not just smoking companions) will still be your friends years from now, even though they're still smoking. It's just that your social circle will shift somewhat. And you probably won't want to hang around much when they're smoking. Usually what happened with me at work and so on is that they'd just go off to toke up and I wouldn't join them, sometimes I'd be at a party or something and then I'd get high, but I wouldn't try that right away if you're trying to stop.
