My wife says that the smell of cigarette smoke on my clothe after smoking outside is dangerous for our baby?

My wife says that the smell of cigarette smoke on my clothe after smoking outside is dangerous for our baby? When I simply can't handle anymore nagging from my wife I have taken to going for a walk and having a cigarette, though I quit smoking about 5 years ago, at least in theory.
She says that the smell lingering on my clothes is dangerous to our newborn, and that she would prefer me to scream and yell and just freak out instead of solving the problem with a cigarette. Can anyone give their opinion. We are desperate for an answer on this one.

The screaming and yelling is worse for your baby than the scent of smoke on your clothes. That's ridiculous.

?
its called second-hand smoking. for once the woman is right.

She's right. It may not be direct, but it is still secondhand smoke. That is the last thing a newborn baby needs. Simple solution: don't solve your problems by smoking. Talk it through with your wife. That's always the way to go.

Have you heard of "third-hand smoke" ? The only way you might be able to avoid exposure of carcinogenic particulates left on your clothing from even smoking outside is to shower and change your clothes before going near your baby. If you think all of that is worth it, keep smoking, if not, you may be risking the health of your baby.

I myself smoke, so I feel your pain. While it is legitimate to say particles from cigarettes may linger on your body, hair and clothes, what about other air-born antagonists like smog from car exhaust? I think its safe to say there is always a looming threat to our children and ourselves, but I suppose smoking on top of that only compounds matters and causes a bigger concentration of toxins your infant may be exposed to.

Try looking up third-hand smoke online for more information.

She is wrong about the smell of smoke being the same as breathing air tainted with cigarette smoke chemicals. They do smell bad however and I would suggest you deal with your continuing addiction to nicotine and your anger issues with a good therapist since neither problem is one you want to be modeling around your child.
