Question regarding a possible blood clot in my calf?

Question regarding a possible blood clot in my calf?I'm 16, and overweight, actually I just found out I lost about 40 pounds (Yay!), So I'm at 237lbs, about 6'2". I've never had a problem with my blood clotting, and blood clots are unheard of in my family, but for about three weeks now, my left calf has really been bothering me! It has been getting better recently, but I practiced my double bass drumming pretty hard yesterday, which puts quite a bit of strain on my left leg, and today my leg has been killing me! It feels like a consistent sharp pain, or ache with a bit of a pressure. Now, up until now, I've dealt with mostly an annoying pressure, that was almost completely gone until my drumming session yesterday, which caused it to return slightly, but with moderate pain as well.

Last Thursday I saw my doctor about it, and he said, "Based on my age, and the fact that there is no swelling, redness, severe pain, or any other symptoms, it's almost definitely just a muscle strain."
Frankly, I believe him, since I just took an Ibuprofen about twenty minutes ago and the pain is completely gone, but there is still a little bit of pressure. He gave me a sheet of exercises to do to help my leg, and they seem to be helping slightly, so I'm pretty sure it's not a clot...

But my anxious mind requires a second opinion, so what do you think?
I do smoke, but I've only been smoking for six or seven months now, so I doubt that would cause any predisposition, since my whole family has smoked for all of their lives, and have had no problems in that category. I've also noticed that the more I think about it, the more pressure I feel, and vice-versa. Anxiety Disorder sucks! =(
You're right about smoking, but it's so hard to have the desire to quit. I suppose it's because I've not been smoking long enough to actually have any negative effects... (knock on wood) It would be neat to quit though!

True about the anxiety disorder, but you control this too. First and foremost without lecturing STOP SMOKING!! I smoked for 35 years and then after a broken back required me to be hospital and rehab bound for over 6 weeks I quit. The happy thing was the money I saved back then. I was going great thinking all was fine with my lungs healing and my mom quit without incident that I had it made. Then 4 years after BAM. I found out I had COPD. This one I couldn't get out of. Please, for your own good, quit the cigarettes and take the money and start saving it for whatever you want. Now, or later, big or small, but just do other then spend it on worthless paper you smoke. About the clot, I highly agree with the doctor and since you do feel better then you must be right? Take your time and just think about it too. What does your common sense and logic tell you? No one knows the future and you only have just one life to live, please choose wisely. Good luck and God Bless
