Should i tell my boss I want to quit my job now?Im getting really sick of my job and I want to quit by the end of summer. I plan on applying to some jobs in the meantime. I was wondering- is it a better idea to tell my boss I want to quit now or should I wait until I actually get another job first? How many weeks notice do I need to give?

You should probably secure another job prior to giving your notice. Any reputable company will allow you to give 2 weeks notice at your current position and would likely not hire you if they found out you quit your current job simply because you don't like it. Try to stick it out for the time being and you will be rewarded in the long term.

I think you should find a job first and see if they accept you and then tell your boss you want to quit so it is more safe.

It depends, when others at your job have given notice have they been walked out immediately or were they allowed to work out their notice? At my husband's job they walk you out then and there. If they'll let you work out your notice, I would give the standard 2 week notice.
Other than that you can let them know that you're keeping your options open and if a job comes your way that suits your needs you're going to take it.
