What are the risk of smoking until 10 weeks pregnant? Will it harm the baby if I quit at 10 weeks??Help!?I quit at 10 weeks, and now I am paranoid about the harms that I could have caused my baby. I smoked, every other day no more than 2, 3 if I was extremely stressed. What harms could have happened to him?? I am so scared. Any thoughts?? Please?

Should have thought about that before you smoked, its too late now to worry about the damage that could already be done..

The only thing that has been conclusively linked to smoking is low birth weight, and only in some cases. Remember that women smoked for years, a pack or more a day, and had perfectly healthy babies. It is only in the last 30 years that women have been told not to smoke while they're pregnant. Don't worry so much! The stress you are putting on yourself by doing all this worrying is far more harmful to you little one than a couple of cigarettes are!

First of all let me say Good for you for quitting.

Secondly, in early pregnancy there could be a slight risk that smoking can lead to miscarriage. However, that is very hard for scientists to prove because miscarriage is common in 1st trimester so it's really just a guess that one leads to the other.

All other effects that have been linked to smoking have been proven to almost disappear completely if you quit before 30 weeks. Those effects being low birth weight and early labour.

So don't worry, everything will be fine. If you are super worried then you can talk to your doctor about it but he/she will most likely tell you what I just did (I got my info from 3 doctors and a nurse of 25 years.)

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and congrats!!

Smoking affects the fetus central nervous system. It may cause sedation. However, you should consult a physician who may suggest you some kinds of nutrients or vitamins that may help.
