Which is most beneficial to overall health: quitting smoking or drinking?I know BOTH are beneficial, of course, but my next-door neighbor (who wants to quit drinking AND smoking, only not at the same time) asked me if one would be better than the other to start with.
For myself, I just quit smoking, and I think the health benefits have been great, but I really didn't know how to answer his question.
If you had to answer one or the other...which?
Yes, I realize both habits can be fatal, but smoking was my personal health risk. I quit it, and I feel better than I've felt in years. I personally think smoking is the worst thing we can do to our bodies, but that might just be ME.

it depends on how much and often ur friend drinks. If there a full blown drinker than they can't quit on their own it can be fatal. But if there not, it would be better to stop drinking cuz when you drink you normally wanna smoke. So do that then cigs they one of the toughest things to quit. Good luck!

Unless you're a hard core alcoholic, it's probably better to give up smoking first.
Either way, tell him to feel free to mail me whatever he's not using anymore...

Quitting smoking is much more beneficial for your health than quitting alcohol. Alcohol in moderation is OK whereas smoking in moderation is still a killer.
