Does smoking weed give you the same cancer risk as smoking cigarettes?I am wondering if you smoked a "bowl" of weed, say, once a day, if this would give you the same amount of cancer and health risk as smoking an equivalent amount of cigarettes. I occasionally like to indulge in weed (Please do not judge), and I am wondering if I should cut it out or if it is still okay once in a while (Not every day- I was just using that as a reference to go by.) Thanks.

Marijuana smoke is far more toxic. In fact look up how much fun COPD is.

No, smoking weed hasn't been proven to link with lung cancer. It DOES cause black lung, though (Well, obviously, smoking is like turning your lungs into a chimney, it's going to cause some kind of problem). Consuming weed, as far as I know (I have never tried consuming, I have smoked, though) doesn't have effects like that. Also, in vapor form it has less health risks. It is also, contrary to popular belief, addictive, so be careful. It's just a different type of addiction, psychological, instead of physical. You don't NEED it, but you have an extreme want for it if you do it for a long period of time w/o a break (like, say, everyday for about 2 months). Basically, if you have access to it, you're probably going to do it.

if you're talking once a month or so, it's absolutely fine- you're inhaling very little smoke for your high and the studies have not been able to link lung cancer and marijuana smoke the same way that tobacco is linked- remember that studies on marijuana that are funded by various governments are often halted and squashed when they fail to substantiate a prohibitionist mentality- however what has come out over the recent years is that Pot is nowhere near the toxicity or danger of tobacoo- not even close. So once a month or so and your body is unlikely to ever have a smoking related complication.
Now in your example you've mentioned daily smoking- if you are smoking daily, invest in a decent vaporizer such as the Volcano Vaporizer by Storz and Bickel, regardless of the quantity of tar, addictive chemicals etc that separate marijuana from tobacco, marijuana smoke is still smoke- the way that smoke interacts in your body SUCKS it's a totally primitive way of getting high- the smoke scalds the little hairs in your lungs that you need to filter your air- that means you get dirty unfiltered air when you breathe (all your life!)- that means you get infections of the chest and lungs- smoking will also cause your body's immune system to weaken and degrade because smoking both overworks your system and bleaches your system of vitamins such as vitaminc C which boosts non-smokers immune systems.
Smoking will also weaken your bones, it can even cause you to develop eye problems- smoking a bong daily even gives you the risk of developing some really terrible lung problems due to pressure rather than smoke.
So if you love weed, like i do, do yourself a favour and find a better mode of delivery than smoking it- if you aren't smoking the pot and you aren't predisposed to drug-induced schizophrenia (chances are, you're not, only a tiny portion of the population is- but check your family history) then you can consume weed in whatever other form for your entire life without a hitch- apart from of course- the legal ramifications.
