Help! Been semi-constipated for 8 days!?

Help! Been semi-constipated for 8 days!?So I'm on the new smoking cessation drug, Chantix, and I've been mostly constipated for about 8 days now. I've gone a little bit after taking milk of magnesia, but not a whole lot. Constipation is one of the side affects of this medication, as is nausea and vomiting, which I've also had some trouble with. My stomach doesn't hurt or feel sick like it should if I were really constipated - it's just a little bloated and uncomfortable. I called my doctor and they told me to take a stool softener, which I did at 10 p.m. last night, but it's now 9:35 a.m. and still nothing has happened. What should I do??

Hi
I took Chantix and had the same problem, and since I have diverticulitous it brought on an attack. In the second week I went into a depression and quit taking it.. it wasn't worth it.. Although it does work well with the craving aspect.

Make sure you drink lots of liquids, and eat a lot of fiber. Lot's of times if you are dehydrated you get constipated. Eat fruit, vegetables and whole grains.

Good Luck

Take an enema, a.s.a.p - preferably a real one with a nozzle-and-bulb. I recommend about a litre of water (with a pinch of salt) or mixed water-and-glycerine.
After eight days, you'll be getting "auto-intoxicated", and you need to empty your bowels of doodoo double-quick!
