How does smoking cause increase of cholesterol?

How does smoking cause increase of cholesterol? It's for my 'A' level biology... The question is, Explain how smoking and a high blood cholesterol concentration increase the risk of coronary heart disease.

I know coronary heart disease is where cholesterol eventually blocks the blood flow in the cornary artery which gives the heart its blood supply. But how does smoking affect the increase of cholesterol

thanks much (:

Smoking increases your BP by causing vasoconstriction. High BP is thought to cause arterial damage giving way to cholesterol to get into the intima of the artery forming a plaque, evetually. I haven't heard that smoking causes an increase in cholesterol per se.
