How to completely quit smoking?I'm almost 6 mo. pregnant and I still smoke. I smoke 2-3 cigarettes a day. It's a step down from a pack a day, which is what I used to smoke before I found out I was pregnant. I called the tobacco quitline, but the *****es never called me back for my councilling session. I can't use nicorette patches or gum, but are there any suggestions anyone has to help me totally quit? My fiance is using the patches and I thought it would make it easier for me to totally quit, but I just get so irritated sometimes, it's like GRRR, I need a replacement. Any suggestions? And no criticism; I already feel guilty and I've cut down considerably. It's been really hard.

when you are craving a cigarette, try jogging in place or some sort of quick exercise. Anything to up your heart rate a bit and get you breathing a bit heavier. You could also try taking in some deep quick breaths, if you are not in a place where jogging in place will work :). I heard that it kicks up some of the tar and nicotine that is already in your lungs and makes you not want to smoke as much. It's worth a try..its worked for some and if it doesnt help you, dont give up. you can quit. carrot sticks, gum, etc might also help. Good Luck.

I know it sounds really weird, but, for some reason it worked for me when I was pregnant, I ate cough drops, everytime I craved a cigarette, it lasts for a good month. Also, cut your cigarette down to a half, and smoke the other half later....good luck...patches didn't work for me either.....bella

sometimes just breathing in deeply like you are taking a puff from a ciggie can help.
Also I found that yoga helped alot when I was trying to quit, although I also was sing the patch.

i know how hard it is to quit, i have been smoking 11 years, was unable to quit with my last 2. i have considerably cut down as well, but i still feel like its not enough. my doctor told me to try a straw cut to the length of the cigarette, and to suck on peppermints. i have cut down from a pack and 1/2 a day to about 5 a day. big progress in 5 weeks for me. I wish you luck, and congrats!
