Quit smoking cold turkey due to pregnancy and coughing violently?I know its normal for the body to remove the toxins from the lungs after smoking cessation but will the violent coughing affect the baby at all?
Hiyahoo
YES. not only coughing, smoking as a whole can affect the growing baby. so say quits
hi
well it wont hurt it more than smoking. Good job quiting for your baby's sake :). It will be hard but there is an alterior motive

No, but violent coughing can cause you temporary damage to the sphincter muscle making it difficult for you to hold your pee in. If the coughing is getting to you, try some Halls cough drops.
?
hey, im in the process of an unplanned pregnancy. I was a pack a day smoker for 4 years when I found out. my doctor told me to quit smoking (obviously ,lol!) but suggested to go straight off them if i could or cut right down over a period of 3 weeks as the stress was worse for the baby than the few ciggarettes. i was able to quit straight off the bat (im so proud! :) ) but yeah, I did have a really bad cough coming up and some pretty disturbing mucus too.. I seen my doctor about the coughing as It was making me pee too (it was a strong cough) and she gave me come tablets that were safe for the baby and broke down the mucus for me.. apparently the meds just relax the chest and break down the mucus so you can cough it out easier and quicker. as for bad for the baby, only your doctor could really answer that. Best wishes and congrats on giving up smoking and on your bub! Jess
