Are there benefits to rolling your own cigarettes?

Are there benefits to rolling your own cigarettes? Are there any mild health benefits? Are there more or less chemicals in rolled cigarettes?
(I realize it is dangerous to a persons health no matter what, so don't tell me this is a retarded question. It is obvious and well known smoking is hazardous to a person's health.)

Are there any cost benefits? (After accounting for papers, filters, tobacco, and cig makers)

Are there any social consequences? (beyond that smoking is frowned upon.)

And, lastly, any opinions and personal preferences?

PLEASE DO NOT SPAM ABOUT THE DANGERS OF SMOKING. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN 10 WAYS TO QUIT OR THE LIKES. THAT IS NOT MY QUESTION.

Mostly there is less saltpeter. This is an element of gunpowder and is used in tobacco to make for a smooth smoke. Much more than tobacco, saltpeter is an irritant to your lungs.

You can roll your own much thinner than factory cigs and so you can control how much you want to smoke at one time. I found that I was spending about a quarter on rolling my own than I was on factory cigs.

Also since you can't just light one up instantly you will find that you are going to be smoking less frequently anyway.

the cost is lower than buying them already rolled with a filter..but the risk of cancer is higher..because there is no filter the social consequences is someone stupid person may think it is a joint, esp if they don't know what weed smells like..not to mention walking down the street with one..think how many time you will get hassled by the police until they realize it just tobacco

yes you save money so you can pay for your cancer treatment.

I don't think it has any health benefits, but it does have a cost benefit.

packs in my area cost $ 4/5 per pack and cartons cost $ 50 ... try having 2 parents who spent $ 20 a day on cigs....

my dad bought a $ 60 roller that rolls them good and quickly, and buys big bags of tobacco for $ 20, those bags last both of my parents 1-2 weeks, and they both smoke 3 packs a day... so $ 20 a week is wonderful compared to $ 20 a day.

and, my oldest brother, who is 24 and very social, has no social consequences at all, i actually don't see how it could have any affect.

I think rolling your own is a million times better and cheaper than buying the packs/cartons.

but, at first, my parents didn't really like it, they said the tobacco tasted funny, and after a day or so they got use to it.
