Do marathon runners have significantly lower rates of heart disease and strokes? If I run an average of two marathons a year, will that decrease my chance of getting a heart attack or stroke. I eat relatively healthy and do not smoke or drink. My genetics are bad, though, because both my parents have heart disease and my dad has had three strokes already.

Sport is an important factor in decreasing the rates of heart disease and stroke because daily training increase blood circulation.decreasing blood pressure.improving lipid profile .so you have good elements such as running.healthy diets, non smoker against poor genetic profile,so keep all your positive elements
