Do they drug test when you go to take the ASVAB?I'm suppose to go take the ASVAB test tommorw in Los Angeles. I remember a few months ago my friend said he had to get clean because they drug test at the asvab test but he is in the Navy. I am taking the test for the CA Army National Guard. I like to smoke marijuana for recreational use and smoked yesterday. I obviously don't want to go take the test tommorw if I know im going to be drug tested. I do understand that I am going to have to quit smoking when I am in the Army but that is fine. I know I am going to have to be clean when I take my physical and go to basic training but do they drug test when I go to take the test? My recruiter doesn't know that I smoke marijuana.

You shouldnt be drug tested until you have signed some kind of papers. I went threw the process and never had to do the drug testing until after they had my scores. That is if they dont just wait until you get to MEPS to do the testing

Well my husband didn't have to, but if you smoke pot, and don't want to stop, then don't join. If you swear in, and they find out about it, you will get a dishonorable discharge, and might even up in jail for fraudulent enlistment.

My recruiter originally told me that I was just going to ASVAB but as it turned out the ASVAB was at MEPS which he did not tell me until I asked that specifically. In that case a drug test would happen. There are some ASVAB tests that happen seperatly from MEPS, but generally they happen at the same time. Try to get in touch with your recruiter and find out if the ASVAB you would be taking is at a MEPS location, if it is, you could tell your recruiter that your sick and will have to wait until the next date so you can be physically stable for MEPS and start detoxing right away. Be careful though, because the drug test at MEPS does detect detox agents.
