How can i remove smoke odor from my closet?I live in an apartment, and my downstairs neighbors smoke (not just cigarettes, unfortunately). I do not. Now, my closet stinks of cigarette smoke, as do all of my clothes. Is there anything I can do to remove the odor from my closet, and a way to de-stink my clothes without having to launder them all? I've tried odor absorbing candles and Febreeze to no effect. Please help!

Leave an open container of coffee grounds in your closet for a couple of days. It might not get rid of the odor completely, depending on the level of smoke in your apartment, but it will help tremendously. Good luck!

Cedar chips work well . You can buy them at a bed and bath store usually, like Linen's N Things
Cass
febreeze :)

I think you should contact the apartment information people and tell them about this problem so they can end it.
If that is impossible to do, (which it probebly is), do the following:
1. Cut open 4 lemons in half and place them in each corner of your closet. But first, cover them with seran wrap and poke little holes in them with a pen or knife.
2. Put a glade gel air freshener in your closet of the top so it removes bacteria in the air above your closet.
3. Spray Febreeze on your WALLS in your closet so it kills the smoke bacteria.
4. Open up your closet and put a fan next to it. Turn it on and place an air freshener on the holes in the fan (where the air blows out) and that should blow away the bad air germs and add some fresh smell.
5. Sprinkle carpet cleaner on the carpet of the closet and vacuum it to remove smoke germs in the floor
For your clothes:
1.Wash them all first, then spray them all with clothes freshener and then place them away in the closet after following the steps above. Then every 2 weeks or month repeat this and they should stay fresh. Also, when your ready to ware an outfit in your closet. Kind of shake it in the air to remove the smell. Then spray a little bit of clothes freshener.
This should keep your clothes and closet fresh from the horid smell.
For extra, extra protection:
Cover the carpet in your closet with a bed liner (thing that covers your bed mattress) or cover it with foil or seran wrap. Before covering your floor, spray a whole lot of air freshener and carpet cleaner so it catches the smoke smell. Every month change the seran wrap but, for the bed liner, wash and repeat this every WEEK.
I hope this ends the horrible smell.
