How should I help my mother stop smoking?Recently, my mom got some patches from QuitLine to help her stop smoking. I'm not sure if she's started smoking less or not, as she still smokes, but I do want to be encouraging. However, personally, I find it annoying when others encourage me to do things, even things I was already doing or things that are good for me, because I feel rushed and like others are watching my every move. So, I don't want to discourage her by encouraging her. With this in mind, I'm afraid to do anything.
What sort of encouragement should I give?

Tell her the disadvantages of smoking and the advantages if she stopped smoking. and she'll realize it -_^

just tell her how proud you are of her for trying to stop smoking. and let her know how much you appreciate her for doing this for you. tell her that by quitting, she will extend her life, and you are glad to have her around to long enough to be with her grandchildren. i think when she realizes that her smoking affects you as well, it may be the incentive she needs. the patches are great- they really help.

Do what i did...
Lock yourself in a room, tell her you wont go to school, or do something you know she wants you to do. Untill you go to Walmart with her and buy Nicoderm gum or patch. It worked with my mom. and she's not smoked for atleast 3 years now. Hope this helps :)
