How to help shortness of breath after quitting smoking?Hello!
I haven't smoked in 24 days, and this past week especially I have been experiencing shortness of breath, mostly when exercising. It feels like I can't draw a deep breath but like I am holding my breath at the same time! I can't run as far or fast, and I want to know if anyone knows of any ways to make it better? Internet forums seem to indicate it can take up to several years to feel better! I smoked for ~10 years, between 1/2 and 1 pack a day...
This is really the only bad symptom from quitting I have left. I exercise daily, so I'm already doing that ... any ideas?
Thanks for any help!

It sounds like Asthma.
Then again, if you can get air into your lungs, but you can't get the air out, it could also be COPD.
I suggest scheduling an appointment with your physician to find out exactly.

It does take about 3 to 6 months to really clean some of the crud out of your lungs once you stop. If after 6 months you are still having SOB get to your GP or Pulmonary Doctor.
