What are the health risks of smoking once?So here's what's going on. I took one drag of a cigarette last night (except for I don't think I did it right, because I didn't even taste any smoke, just the filter) and I'm scared. I know smoking's dangerous. Did my risk of cancer and stuff just go WAY up, or am I okay? Help????? I'm nervous about this.

smokers are 20 times more likely to get lung cancer than non smokers
dont ever smoke again.
you did risk yourself for cancer because you smoked but not by that much
my science teacher taught us about the lungs and the smoking
so dont smoke EVER again or you risk will get higher by 5 percent everytime

Well seeing as youve only had one, you shouldnt be too bad.
However with every smoke the risk goes up dramatically.
Ater 2 cigarettes the ciliated cells in your throat (little hair like cells that help move mucus away from the lung entries) will have been killed and you will feel more mucus in your throat.
So if you like having a clear throat dont smake another!
Remember you are just as likely to get luncg cancer, even if you only smoke 10.
Hope you make the right choices.
Its best not to get into it in the first place really.

The health risk of smoking once is thinking that you are going to be ok and then doing it again and again. That leading to the main health risk of being addicted to smoking.
Just don't do it again, and you should be fine.
