What is the fastest anyone has ever gotten cancer from smoking?Studies show a 20 year gap between starting smoking and developing lung cancer. My question is, what is the shortest amount of time between somebody starting smoking and developing cancer that could be reasonably attributed to a cause of the smoking?

i think its hard to say.
a 20 year old could have started smoking for 1 year...and they could have developed lung cancer and died....and they might have not even gotten the cancer because of smoking. It could just be genetics

I don't know, but there's a commercial on TV in my area where a girl started at 13, and was diagnosed 5 years later. 1 year after that they removed her voice box. Now at age 19 she can no longer speak. What a horrible way to have to live your life.

I started smoking at 13 and was diagnosed with a type of leukemia that is directly tied to benzene exposure (a chemical in cig smoke that I havent been exposed to anywhere else) at 21.
I have also seen the commercial someone else mentioned.

smoking alone can't cause lung cancer you have to genetically prepared with helping factors ,so it is different in persons some may develop it in just one year as smoking will be the last straw read more about that here http://lungcancerdestroyer.blogspot.com/
